Sailing catamaran Aloha

A private 9.5 m sailing catamaran for up to 8 guests, with a crew of 3 who use the engine as little as possible on the way to Koh Tan's reefs and Koh Madsum (Pig Island). Choose a morning or afternoon half-day, or a full day, from south-west Samui.

Highlights

  • Private catamaran for up to 8 guests
  • Mostly under sail, minimal engine use
  • Snorkeling over the Koh Tan coral reefs
  • Beach stop at Koh Madsum (Pig Island)
  • 20 sqm sun deck and two paddle boards
  • Sashimi prepared from your own catch

Overview

This 9.5 m sailing catamaran is 5 m wide and carries a maximum of 8 guests, so every trip is private. It has a 20 sqm sun deck and 26 sqm of net and deck space. That leaves room to stretch out between swims. A crew of 3 looks after the boat and guests. A Yamaha 20 hp 4-stroke engine, with only a few hours of use, serves as backup. The crew keeps it off whenever the wind allows.

The catamaran is moored in a quiet river in south-west Samui, about 1 km south of the Raja ferry port. From there it heads to two small islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Tan is ringed by coral reefs and is the usual snorkeling stop for this part of Samui. Koh Madsum, known as Pig Island, has pale sand, clear water and Maldives-like scenery. It is also home to the pigs that give the island its nickname.

The open-air cockpit keeps you in the breeze and the view. There are no cabins and no air conditioning, because this is a day boat. Onboard comforts include an icebox, a marine toilet and a Bluetooth stereo. Snorkeling and fishing gear and two stand-up paddle boards are on board. If you catch a fish, the crew can prepare it as sashimi.

Water, coke and sprite are provided, and you are welcome to bring your own wine, beer or spirits. You can pre-order a BBQ mix. Alternatively, rent the charcoal BBQ and bring your own seafood to cook on board.

Choose a half-day trip in the morning or afternoon, or a full day to Koh Tan and Koh Madsum. Transfers are not included and must be booked separately.
