An elephant is a sacred animal and symbol of Thailand. These are devoted, calm and intelligent animals that get along well with people and can be well trained. Some elephants have got a "mother-boy" - mahout. Lifes of elephants and mahouts are connected till death.
Elephant brought up by mahout obeys only his master and in case of master's death will probably not accept a new mahout and will spend the rest of life in the shelter for elephants and will receive a pension.
